DESIGN PROCESS:
The Missouri Botanical Garden’s brand identity is defined by bold diagonals, lush photography, and a vibrant color palette—pulled from the richness of the natural world.
With each project, I focused on bringing fresh visual thinking while honoring the integrity of the Garden’s existing brand to keep the materials feeling lively and relevant for an audience that sees the materials year after year. Practically, this meant reworking image hierarchies, experimenting with color applications, and massaging existing layouts to better suit updated information.
My work with the Garden’s began shortly after a rebrand, allowing me to develop original concepts to expand the brand’s toolkit as new campaigns and first-time initiatives occurred. Whether designing event signage, creating educational materials, or supporting fundraising efforts, I carefully placed color blocks and chose images to ensure every touchpoint felt considered, engaging, and mission-aligned. From large-scale graphics to fine-print details, each piece is designed to invite curiosity, support community programming, and communicate the Garden’s commitment to plant science, sustainability, and education.
Throughout our ongoing collaboration, I had the opportunity to deepen my design practice in extending brand systems across varied formats and audiences. This experience sharpened my ability to balance consistency with creativity and gave me real world practice in delivering adaptable solutions rooted in purpose and strategy.
